PROGRAM COMPONENTS  
HOUR 1
• Parents spend one hour in a group setting, learning specific skills which include: the stages of human development and expectations, stress management, setting goals and objectives, improving communication, praise and rewards, setting limits, dealing with anger, use/abuse of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs (ATOD), and establishing a family plan.
• Children spend one hour in a group learning specific skills such as engaging in conversation, social interaction, the "secret" rules for success, saying "no", communicating effectively (speaking and listening), problem solving, giving and taking directions, handling peer pressure and criticism, dealing with anger, recognizing and coping with stress, and learning to seek out help.
HOUR 2
Participants enjoy a family dinner, prepared and served by staff.
HOUR 3
The final hour combines the parent and child groups, involving both generations in learning and practicing their new skills.
